Sycamore — Platanus occidentalis
A visually impressive tree, the Sycamore is related to the Maple tree, it has very large leaves and distinctive bark that flakes to reveal cream-coloured inner bark... The flaking usually occurs several feet from the bottom of the tree. It produces a seed ball that animals love, and it can be tapped to make syrup! How high will the sycamore grow? We actually know... It's about 115 feet. It prefers moist soil and grows well in part shade or full sun. Not recommended for planting near septic beds.
